After an energizing and productive few days at RIMS RISKWORLD 2025, the team at Building Safety Solutions is back in the office — inspired, recharged, and full of fresh insights.
Held in the heart of downtown Chicago from May 4–7, this year’s event brought together over 10,000 professionals at the intersection of risk management strategies, emergency response technology, and enterprise safety technology.
What We Showcased
Our goal at the show was to show 20 product demos and we were happy to triple that goal and do over 85 demos during the two-and-a-half days.
At our booth, we demonstrated our latest advancements in:
- Incident response technology (BSS First Responder).
- Compliance automation tools for risk managers and safety insurance officers.
- Web-based compliance systems to prepare and protect employees and mitigate liability exposure to organizations. This includes the ability for employees to identify themselves “safe” during and after an incident.
- Interactive digital plans for identifying key components of critical systems. (BSS Archangel).
The level of engagement from attendees was tremendous with very positive reception to our products. We had meaningful conversations with professionals across a wide spectrum of industries — from healthcare and higher education to manufacturing, financial services, and commercial real estate.
Many risk managers expressed concerns about emergency communication gaps, while facility managers were particularly drawn to our mobile-first evacuation and situational awareness tools.
With the BSS Guardian product, what really connected with professionals was the ease of the in-house reporting aspect of the product. There were many positives about the procedural aspect of the product to streamline procedures and make their lives easier. Also, from an administrative perspective the compliance and reduction of liability were met with great reception.
Most of the RISKWORLD exhibitors were insurance companies and insurance brokers. But there still was some diversity with shoe companies and weather companies attending.
We spoke with:
- Professionals from various industries including universities, data centers, healthcare and transportation.
- Data companies interested in our First Responder software to make sure their data center in-house staff have access to critical information to make quicker and more informed decisions during incidents. Also, this tool helps to better support personnel from the City’s emergency services.
- Corporate risk officers looking to integrate physical safety data into their digital risk platforms.
- Insurance brokers and facilitators interested in how real-time safety analytics can impact policy underwriting.
- Business continuity planners searching for tools that ensure both compliance and operational resilience during emergencies.
- Risk managers for colleges and universities improving their operational resiliency.
It was clear: organizations are actively seeking tech-enabled risk mitigation tools that are not just reactive but predictive and adaptive.
Our BSS First Responder product garnered a great deal of attention, especially in the opening days of the conference as different companies like data centers, insurance carriers and even corporate real estate companies remarked at the versatility of the product.
There were also many remarks on how the information that BSS First Responder provides could actually save a building in case of emergency versus the cost of having to replace a destroyed building.
One university professor best summed up the product by using the analogy of having a medical alert bracelet…but for a building.
We left with a clear sense that technology is becoming the backbone of modern risk strategy, and collaboration across specialties — cyber, physical, operational — is the key to future readiness.
Final Thoughts
RISKWORLD 2025 reaffirmed what we’ve believed from the start: the role of risk professionals is evolving fast, and the demand for smart, agile, and legally compliant risk management infrastructure is growing with it.
